Tasting Note
Delas does a fine job with its regional wines and the 2019 Cotes du Rhone Saint-Esprit is another success. Notes of garrigue accent black cherries and red berries in this medium to full-bodied effort. Not as richly textured or plush as the Ventoux, it’s perhaps more of a classic-style Rhône blend marked by smooth tannins and savory hints of roasted meat and black olives.
Wine & Cheese Pairing
For cheese pairings, you may want to try medium-hard, aged cheeses such as Gouda, Cheddar, or Manchego. These types of cheeses have a nutty and slightly tangy taste that complements the fruit and spice of the wine.
Another great option is a soft, creamy cheese such as Boursault or a triple cream Brie. The rich and buttery texture of these cheeses balances the wine’s tannins and acidity.
